how I like to do these is factor by grouping. since you cant on this one, you will unfortunately have to use the quadratic formula

so{{{x = (-b +- sqrt( b^2-4*a*c ))/(2*a) }}} just plug and chug 
a is 2, b is 3, and c is 5
 you -3+-sqrt(9-40)

i don't think there is a solution
