Question 13272
x- 4 < 2

You need to add + 4 to each side of the inequality:
x - 4 + 4 < 2 + 4
x< 6

This means any value of x less than 6 (like 5, 4, 3, etc. including all values in between!). On a numberline, locate the number 6 on the numberline, and shade all values to the left of 6 on the numberline. Indicate somehow (depending upon your textbook!) that the 6 is NOT included in the solution. This can be indicated with an open circle or a parentheses opening to the left (again, depending upon your textbook!).
