Question 89847
first equation ok ... third equation kind of on track ... why two variables?

let x equal amount of 5% solution ... then 60-x equals the amount of 10% solution

expanding on your third equation ... .05(x)+.10(60-x)=.09(60)

multiplying by 100 gives 5x+600-10x=540 ... -5x=-60 ... x=12
