Question 64089
The terminology for factoring varies with books and teachers, I am not familiar with your terminology
x^2 – 3x + 7
a=1, b=-3, and c=7
In order to factor you need to find 2 numbers that multiply to get ac, but add to get b
ac=1(7)=7
There are only two ways to mutiply to get 7:
(1)(7)=7
(-1)(-7)=7
However, if you add them together you don't get b=-3
1+7=8
(-1)+(-7)=-8
This isn't factorable.
Happy Calculating!!!
