Question 63734
QUESTION:

solve the following

0.3(x - 4) = 0.03(4x - 8)

ANSWER:

0.3(x - 4) = 0.03(4x - 8)

Remove the brackets by multiplying term by term.

==>  0.3(x - 4) = 0.03(4x - 8)

==>  0.3 * x - 0.3 * 4 = 0.03 * 4x - 0.03 * 8

==>  0.3x - 1.2 = 0.12x - 0.24

collect like terms together,(That is x terms and constant terms seperately)

For that,

 0.3x - 1.2 = 0.12x - 0.24

add 1.2 on both sides. (FOR COLLECTING CONSTANT TERMS)

==>  0.3x - 1.2 + 1.2 = 0.12x - 0.24 + 1.2

==>  0.3x = 0.12x + 9.6

Subtract 0.12x from both sides. (FOR COLLECTING X TERMS TOGETHER)

==> 0.3x -0.12x = 0.12x + 9.6 - 0.12x

==> 0.18 x = 9.6

Divide both sides by 0.18

==> 0.18 x / 0.18= 9.6/0.18

==>  X = 5.333333

SO,   x = 5.33
