I have tried to solve the following problem but can&#39;t get
anyone to agree with me. Are my processes correct and why?

126 divided by 2y to the third--where y=3. 

126 divided by 2 x (3 x 3 x 3)=
 126 divided by 2 x 27
  126 divided by 54= 2.3

Everyone else is saying that the problem should read:

126 divided by 2 x y to the third.

(126 divided by 2) x (3 x 3 x3)
63 x 27=1701
---------------
{{{126/(2y^3) = 2.3}}}
{{{(126/2)*y^3 = 1701}}}
You have to know which it is.
