Depends.  Do you mean:

or


*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ S\ =\ \frac{n}{2(a\ +\ 1)}]


Re-post, using sufficient parentheses to make it clear which parts of the RHS are in the numerator and which are in the denominator.
