Yes. *[tex \Large x\ =\ a] is a linear equation but violates the "one output for any given input" rule. In fact, the solution set for *[tex \Large x\ =\ a] is *[tex \Large \left{(x,y)\,|\,x\ =\ a,\ y\ \in\ \mathbb{R}\right}], hence for any given value in the domain of the relation, namely *[tex \Large a], you cannot pin down a specific value of *[tex \Large y] because *[tex \Large y] can be any real number.

John
*[tex \LARGE e^{i\pi} + 1 = 0]
My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it
