Question 475930
I answered the first part of the question which was What was the speed of the cyclist riding for 30 minutes at 5mph. To solve I multiply 30 by .5 and got 15 mph but I could not figure the second part.
------------------
By traveling 5 mph faster and putting in one more hour randy covered twice the distance. What was the speed for him?
-------
1st part DATA:
time = (1/2)hr ; rate = 5 mph ; distance = rt = 5(1/2) = 2.5 miles
--------------------------------------
2nd part DATA:
time = 3/2 hr ; rate = 10 mph ; distance = rt = (3/2)10 = 15 miles
--------------------------------------
Your data leads to the conclusion that 15 = 2(2.5), which is false.
