Question 362150
I need help .. ?
The numbers 1,2,3, and 4 are written on separate slips of paper and placed in a hat. Two slips of paper are then randomly, one after the other and without replacement.
a) Make a tree diagram showing the 12 possible outcomes of this experiment.
I can't draw a tree for you. You have to see it.
Form a column with the numbers 1,2,3,4
---
To the right of 1 put 2,3,and 4
To the right of 2 put 1,3,and 4
To the right of 3 put 1,2,and 4
To the right of 4 put 1,2,and 3
------
Do you see the 4*3 = 12 outcomes??
-----------------------------------------

b) Find the probability that the sum of the numbers picked is 6 or more.
Explain it as well..
1 followed by 2,3,and 4 never reaches a sum >= 6
2 followed by 4 reaches 6
3 followed by 4 reaches >=6
4 followed by 2,3 reaches >=6
---
P(sum >= 6) = 4/12 = 1/3
