I have no idea what "marables" [sic] are, but I'll simply assume they are little round things sort of like marbles.  There are 8 total in the bag and 5 of them are purple, so the probability that the first one is purple is *[tex \Large \frac{5}{8}].  Once you have chosen the first marble, there are only 7 left in the bag since we are doing this without replacement, so the probability that the second marble is red, given that there are 3 red marbles remaining in the bag, is *[tex \Large \frac{3}{7}].  So the total probability of these two independent events is:
