 I seem to be stuck on this equation w^2-49 divided by 7-w.I am not sure how to remove the factor of 1. Any help that someone could give me would be great.

That is not an equation.  All equations have an equal sign.
{{{(w^2-49)/(7-w)}}}
={{{(w-7)*(w+7)/(7-w)}}}
={{{-(w-7)*(w+7)/(w-7)}}}
={{{-(w+7)}}} = -w-7

I don't know what you mean by "remove the factor of 1."
