You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The Nut House sells mixed nots that are 20% cashews. The owner wants to prepare 4 punds of mixed nuts that are 25% cashews as a special promotion. How many pounds of cashews and how many pounds of the 20% mixture should she combine to get the 25% micture?
----------------
20% Mixture Data:
Let he amt be "x" lbs ; Amt of cashews = 0.20x lbs
Amt of 100% cashews is "4-x" lbs ;
===============
25% Mixture Dats:
Amt = 4 lbs ; Amt of cashews = 0.25*4 lbs = 1 lb
===================
EQUATION:
cashews + cashews = cashews
0.20x + 4-x = 1 lb
-0.80x = -3
x= 3.75 lbs (this is the # of lbs of the 20% mixture she should use)
