Each polynomial has three terms. Subtract like terms one at a time.
I hope you enjoy Algebra 1 as a junior as much as you are enjoying it as a sophomore. Notice how to spell sophomore.

you subtract the like terms from each other (works the same for adding)

(3x^2 - x^2) + (7x - 5x) + (1 - 8)

if there is no matching term, then you just add the term to the polynomial
