Let w = speed of the wind
then
(220+w) = effective speed with the wind
and
(220-w) = effective speed against the wind

Write a time equation: time = dist/speed
:
330%2F%28%28220-w%29%29 = 550%2F%28%28220%2Bw%29%29
Cross multiply
330(220+w) = 550(220-w)
72600 + 330w = 121000 - 550w
330w + 550w = 121000 - 72600
880w = 48400
w = 48400%2F880
w = 55 mph is the wind
