Multiply by the Lowest common denominator,
12*%28q%2B2%29%2F3 + 12*%28q-4%29%2F4 = 12(2)
Cancel the denominators and you have
4(q+2) + 3(q-4) = 24
:
4q + 8 + 3q - 12 = 24
7q - 4 = 24
7q = 24 + 4
7q = 28
q = 28/7
q = 4
