You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a%2F2-a%2F12=-5a%2F4 Start with the given equation.

12%28a%2Fcross%282%29-a%2Fcross%2812%29%29=12%28-5a%2Fcross%284%29%29 Multiply both sides by the LCD 12 to clear any fractions.

6a-1a=-15a Distribute and multiply.

5a=-15a Combine like terms on the left side.

5a%2B15a=0 Add 15a to both sides.

20a=0 Combine like terms on the left side.

a=%280%29%2F%2820%29 Divide both sides by 20 to isolate a.

a=0 Reduce.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a/2 - a/12 = -5a/4
----
Multiply thru by 12 to get:
3a - a = -15a
2a = -15a
----
Only a = 0 satisfies that equation
