...
let the pre tax bill in first city be x
the pretax bill in second city = x+1500
...
Tax in firts city = 9.5%
Tax in the second city = 6%
..
bill first city + bill second city = Total bill
x*(1.095)+(x+150)*1.06 = 826.25
1.095x+1.06x+159 =826.25
2.155x = 826.25-159
2.155x =667.25
x= 667.25/2.155
x=$309.62 pretax bill in first city
$459.62 pretax bill in second city
