ie 3 over 10x plus 9 over 14x squared = ? The correct answer is 3(7x+15) over 70x squared. How to get there, I don't know. With apologies beforehand to London Maths Tutor and others, I should point out that I'm kind of dense. So if anybody tackling this one could include and explain steps in the process even if they seem blindingly obvious, that would be super! Thanks much, Mike

Assume the problem is:
3%2F%2810x%29 + 9%2F%2814x%5E2%29
looking at the denominator you can see the common denominator will be 70x^2
:
Divide the denominator into the common denominator and multiply the numerator by that value.
%287x%283%29+%2B+5%289%29%29%2F%2870x%5E2%29 = %2821x+%2B+45%29%2F%2870x%5E2%29
Factor out 3 in the numerator
%283%287x+%2B+15%29%29%2F%2870x%5E2%29
