: find 5 consecutive odd integers such that the sum of the first and fifth is one less than three times the fourth This question is from textbook
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let x, x+2, x+4, x+6, x+8 be the five consecutive odd integers.
x+(x+8)=3(x+4)-1
2x+8=3x+12-1
2x-3x=11-8
-x=3
x=3/-1
x=-3 ans. for the lowest integer.
-3+2=-1 for the next integer.
-3+4=1 for the middle integer.
-3+6=3 for the fourth imteger.
-3+8=5 for the largest integer.
Proof:
-3+5=3*1-1
2=3-1
2=2
