Question 207993: I tried the figuring with y = 0 and have do not think this is correct. Now I am clueless as to how to approach this problem.Point A (-4,1) is in the standard x, y coordinate plane. What must be the coordinates of point B so that the line x = 2 is the perpendicular bisector of AB? Thank you for your help.I have an exam in 2 days! Answer by scott8148(6628) (Show Source):
the perpendicular line must be horizontal and of the form y=?
this means A and B have the same y-coordinate (1)
x=2 is the bisector of AB so the distance from A to x=2 is the same as the distance from x=2 to B
___ 2 - -4 = ? - 2 ___ 6 = 8 - 2 ___ so the x-coordinate of B is 8
