document.write( "Question 37733: The problem is (5 1/2)/ (4 3/4)
\n" );
document.write( "This is for an online algebra class. I tried to follow the example which shows how to change the mixed fraction into a improper fraction adn then you multiply to get you answer. When I did that i came up with 5/7*7/3 but you flip the second fraction adn you get 3/7*5/7 and that gave me 15/49. But these are multiple choice questions and that answer was not one of the ones that i can choose from. I did the problem many more times and still have not come up with an answer that is one of my choices. If it helps my choices are: 22/19 19/22 110/8 12/5 209/8 13/4 Can you help me with this problem? The lesson is mixed expression and complex fractions \n" );

Algebra.Com's Answer #23300 by Earlsdon(6294)![]() ![]() ![]() You can put this solution on YOUR website! Divide: \n" ); document.write( "(5 1/2)/(4 3/4) \n" ); document.write( "Your first step was a step in the right direction, but your answer was not! \n" ); document.write( "Change the mixed numbers to their impoper-fractional eqivalents: \n" ); document.write( "N.B. The X means multiply. \n" ); document.write( "5 1/2 = (5X2+1)/2 = 11/2 \n" ); document.write( "4 3/4 = (4X4+3)/4 = 19/4\r \n" ); document.write( "\n" ); document.write( "Now you can divide:\r \n" ); document.write( "\n" ); document.write( " \n" ); document.write( " \n" ); document.write( " \n" ); document.write( " \n" ); document.write( " \n" ); document.write( " |
