Question 7331: Please help me solve this word problem.
A rectangular room has an area of 101.500000 square feet and a perimeter of 43 feet. What are the dimensions of the room? Find the exact solution.
I know that area = lw and perimeter = 2(l + w) and I know that this will end up being a quadratic equation. Not sure how to plug everything in and solve.

PERIMETER OF A RECTANGLE. The perimeter of a rectangular backyard is 6x + 6 yards. If the width is x yards, find a binomial that represents the length.
I'm lost. It's probably so easy, but I'm missing it.
Is it (3x + 3) + (3x + 3)??
Or do you have to do the FOIL method?

I began with 2l+2w=P
So.....2L+(2-10L)+(2-10L)=62
But that's not correct. How do I set this up to solve?
