Amanda has 400 feet of lumber to frame a rectangular patio(the perimeter of a rectangle is 2 times length plus 2 times width). What should the dimensions of the patio be, and show how the maximum area of the patio is calculated from the algebraic equation. Use the vertex form to find the maximum area.
2L = 400 - 2W
A=LW
=(400-2W)W
=4==W-2W^
A= 2W^ - 400W
W = 400/2(-2) = 200 FT
L = 400 - 2W - 400 2(200)
=400

Question 40919: Venn Diagram
The U class and the RDS class and the K class (all first and second graders) were talking about their favorite field trips during the school year. One of the teachers, Ms. S. turned it into a math lesson, and the students conducted a survey. Each child was to write a paper on which trip was his or her favorite. (Note that many children named more than one field trip as "favorite".) The survey revealed that 52 wrote down the trip to the river. 50 indicated the trip to the police station and 44 included the trip to the hardware store. Nineteen papers showed the police station and the river. Thirty-two ballots included both the river and the hardware store, and 25 children had the police station and hardware store on their papers. Seventeen students included all three, and one did not write down any of the three trips. How many were surveyed? HELP!
