I need help with writing the problem in a simplified radical form.

These are under the line of the 'square root symbol" there is nothing on the left side of the symbol. And the 11 and the 2 are 'to the power numbers.'

Question 237388: Okay so I have this problem that I believe I know how to do, but the only problem is that I don't know how I would convert miles to a year. That was where I was really stuck. Here's the problem:
"Sommer wants to buy a new car. She currently drives a car that gets 30 miles per gallon. She is contemplating buying a car that get's 40 miles per gallon. Sommer drives 15,000 miles per year. Assume that gas costs $1.65 per gallon the entire year. How much will Sommer save on gas in 1 year if she buys the new car?"
I know the question is to find the money amount for how much gas is saved, but then that's also another problem I have is how to find that. If anyone knows how to go about solving this problem or setting it up, please let me know! Thank
you so much!

Question 237387: I am having trouble will conversions and I was given this problem to solve. They give you a lot to go off of, but I don't know where to start or better yet what to start with. I assume it wont matter which unit you start with, but then I wasn't sure so here's the problem I was given:
"Kay wants to buy a new fireplace insert that will burn gas instead of wood. She normally uses two cords of wood in the winter. Wood costs $250/cord. She is interested in knowing how much she will save if she burns gas in the fireplace insert. Gas costs $0.70 per therm. One therm is 100,000 BTU. The fireplace insert burns 33,000 BTU per hour. Kay figures she will burn the fireplace 5 hours per day for 120 days. How much will she save in one winter if she burns gas instead of wood?"
It seems like you have to do a lot of conversions, but is there a simpler way to do it or do you have to do every conversion they listed? If anyone has an idea on how to solve this that would be very much appreciated!

Question 255350: Hi, I need someone's help please. I keep getting 94.724 for my answer and the actual answer is 87 decibels. What am I doing wrong? I have included my work as well.
The sound produced by a jet engine was measured at a distance of 100 m in all directions. The loudness d of the sound (in decibels) was found to be d=70.0+30.0cos0 , where the line 0degrees was directed in front of the engine. Calculate d for 0=34.5degrees.
d=70.0+30.0cos(34.5)
d=70.0+24.724
d=94.724
