Question 314700: The sum os two numbers is 95. If the larger is increased by twice the smaller number the result is 120. What is the smaller number?
if x=the smaller number and y=the larger number,then which system of equations represents the word problem?

Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+y=95
2x+y=120 subtract
------------------------
-x=-25
x=25 ans.
25+y=95
y=95-25
y=70 ans.
Prof:
2*25+70=120
50+70=120
120=120
