8 feet is 8*12 = 96 inches
Each banner is 9" so we divide 96 by 9:
96/9 = 10 2/3. The remainder after 10 banners is 2/3".
Answer by oberobic(2304) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1 ft = 12 inches
8 ft = 8 ft * 12 inches/ft = 96 inches
.
Divide 96 by 9 = 10 2/3.
.
So, you can make 10 banners at 9 inches each.
That leaves you with 6 inches of material (96 -90 = 6).
.
Note that the remainder of '2/3' when you divided by 9 is '2/3 of 9' = 2/3*9 = 2*3 = 6.
.
