Question 16898: Two trains leave Chicago, one traveling East at 30 miles per hour, and one traveling west at 40 miles per hour. When will the trains be 210 miles apart?
(We are supposed to be using the formula d=rt.)
Answer by 303795(602) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If one train is traveling at 30 miles per hour and the second is traveling in the opposite direction at 40 miles per hour then they are moving apart at 70 miles per hour.
d=rt
t=d/r
=210/70
=3
They will be 210 miles apart after 3 hours.
