Question 156235: I'm trying to help my son with a math problem and am drawing a blank. The problem says "Make up your own problem to calcuate the amount of money that you would spend on cigarettes if you started smoking in high school and continued until your death. You will need to make some assumptions about length of life. Assume 1 pack of cigarettes is $4.00." There is a conversion chart that shows 1 day equals 2 packages, I assume it is for this problem, 2 packs a day? Can you help, please?

:
Assume a healthy smoker will probably make it 60, (from my observations)
Assume he started smoking seriously at 18, he smoked 2 packs a day for 42 years
:
Lifetime cost = (4*2) * 365 * 42 = $122,640.00
