Question 148178: pls. help!! I can't understand this question. I have to get the diameter and the given is only the mass and the height.
here is the word problem:
A cylindrical water tank holds 1000 L of water. Determine it's diameter if it's 1.5 m tall.
What could be the formula to get the Diameter. Please help.

What could be the formula to get the Diameter
-----------------------
V = (pi)dh
1000 = (pi)d*1.5
d = 212.20... m

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A cylindrical water tank holds 1000 L of water. Determine it's diameter if it's 1.5 m tall.
----------
The volume of a cylinder is V = PI*r^2*h
1000 liters = 1 cubic meter (you have to know that)
-------------------
So PI*r^2*1.5 = 1
r^2 = 1/(1.5*PI)
r = sqrt(1/(1.5*PI))
r = 0.46066 meters
r = 460.66 millimeters
------------------
PS it's = it is. Determine its diameter, not it's.
