The difference between a number and its reciprocal is 3/2. Find the number.
Let the number be N

Then we get: 

 -------- Multiplying by LCD, 2N

 ----- Subtracting 3N

(N - 2)(2N + 1) = 0

N - 2 = 0               OR      2N + 1 = 0
