Question 411051: A jet plane traveling at 500mph overtakes a propeller plane traveling at 200 mph that had a 2 hour head start. How far from the starting point are the planes?
I know I have to use the d= r.t, but I don't understand how to write the equation to get the answer for this??

Question 411278: At 8:00 am the smiths left a campground, driving at 48 mi/h. At 8:20 am the Garcias left the same campground and followed the same route driving at 60 mi/h. At what time did they overtake the Smiths? this is whatr I have so far
Smiths= 48*t
Garcias= 60(1/3+t)
I 'm not even sure if thats right. Please help!!!!

Two ground observers are 20 mi apart. They communicate with each other by cell phone and note that a passenger plane has passed over each of them exactly 5 minutes apart. If this plane is flying into a 50-mi/h headwind, what is the airspeed of this plane?
What I tried:
Distance=Rate x Time
50-20= r x 12 Since time must be in hour i converted 5 minutes by dividing by 60

Speaking to another spectator, they find out that the Red balloon is 95 feet above ground and rising at 40 feet per minute. The blue balloon is only 30 feet above ground but is rising at 50 feet per minute.
How would one write a system of equation that would describe the problem. Use y to represent the height of the balloon and x to represent minutes?
