Question 316942: Ann runs 4 miles in 30 minutes. At the same rate, how many miles would she run in48 minutes?
I tried taking 30 and dividing it by 4, which gave me 7.5. Then i took 7.5 and multiplied it by 48. But the answer doesn't seem correct. 360.

Question 317026: At 5pm, Jill leaves New York City and travels toward Boston at an average rate of 56 miles per hour. At 6pm, Billy leaves Boston and travels toward New York, on the same road as Jill, at an average rate of 50 miles per hour. If they were initially 215 miles apart, at what time do Billy an Jill pass each other?
Remarks: I know we are trying to solve for 't' here, but I'm not sure how to setup the problem. Should Jill be setup as (t+1) or Billy should?? Thanks for your help.

Question 317043: A motorboat can travel 28 miles downstream in the same amount of time as it can travel 18 miles upstream. Find the speed of the current if the boat can travel 23 mph in still water. I thought the problem should be something like 28/23+x=18/23-x but this is not giving me the correct answer...not sure what else I can do

I dont know of which (if any) formula to use. Distance formula?
i know that the first boat only travels 6 miles in the same time because it is going against the current
i dont know if i should put the boat having a motor into concideration because if no then it took the boat 2 hours going 3 mph to go 6 miles? <-- i dont think that parts right...but..and 3.3hr to go 10 miles down stream.
