Question 99812: From the McDougal Littell Math, Course 3 Chapter 1
Gridded Answer: Two trucks leave a warehouse at approximately the same time and travel the same route. How far apart are the trucks after 4 1/2 hours if the average speed of the trucks are 52 miles per hour and 56 miles per hour?

Answer by doukungfoo(195)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
distance traveled equals time multiplied by the speed
so the first truck
52mph times hours equals 234 miles
the second truck
56mph times hours equals 252 miles
how far apart the trucks are would be
252 miles minus 234 miles

The trucks are 18 miles apart
