1)
Bret started at 6:30 am and finished at 1:05 pm. To find the difference between these two times, you would change the times to the 24-hour clock (also known as military time).
On the 24-hour clock, 6:30 am is 06:30 and 1:05 pm is 13:05.
Subtract 6:30 from 13:05.
Change the 13:05 to 12:65 so that you can do the subtraction.
12:65-6:30 = 6:35 or 6 hours and 35 minutes.
2)
John needs to travel 28 miles in 30 minutes, so his speed in mph would be:
2(28 miles) in 2(30 mins) or 56 miles in 60 mins. = 56 mph
3) Since the map scale is 1/3 inch = 15 miles, you need to find out how many times will 1/3 go into 3 2/3 then multiply that by 15 miles.
3 2/3 = 11/3
= 11 Now multiply this by 15 miles.
The actual distance between the two towns is 165 miles.
