In one day Liam traveled five times the sum
of the number of hours Sydney traveled and two.
Sydney travelled = x
Liam travelled = 5x + 2
Total hours travelled = 20 hours
x + (5x + 2) = 20
x + 5x + 2 = 20
Collect like terms
6x = 20 - 2
6x = 18
x = 3
Sydney travelled for 3 hours
Liam travelled for 17 hours.
