Question 986394: an executive jet cruises at 700 km/hr. if the winds are light, it consumes fuel at a rate of 38 l/min. if the jet's fuel tanks contain 6840 l when full, what is its maximum range?
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
"it consumes fuel at a rate of 38 l/min. if the jet's fuel tanks contain 6840 l when full"
Assume the tank is completely full. This means the plane can fly for ( 6840 L )*(1 min/38 L) = 6840/38 = 180 minutes
180 minutes = (180 minutes)*(1 hour/60 minutes)
180 minutes = 3 hours
It can fly for 3 hours on a full tank with light winds.
D = r*t
D = 700*3
D = 2,100
The jet's maximum range is 2,100 km with a full tank and light winds.
