Answer by algebrahouse.com(1659) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
400 miles at 18 miles per gallon
= 400 ÷ 18
= 22.22 gallons used per week {divided}
22.22 gallons at $3 per gallon
= 22.22 x 3
= $66.66 spent per week {multiplied}
52 weeks in a year at $66.66 dollars per week
= 52 x 66.66
= $3466.32 spent per year {multiplied}
---------------------------
400 miles at 50 miles per gallon
= 400 ÷ 50
= 8 gallons used per week {divided}
8 gallons at $3 per gallon
= 8 x 3
= $24 spent per week {multiplied}
52 weeks in a year at $24 per week
= 52 x 24
= $1248 spent per week {multiplied}
-------------------------
Difference
= 3466.32 - 1248
= $2218.32 saved {subtracted}
B.) $2200
