Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If a cop says he had to travel at 85mph over 2.0 miles to catch you....then how fast were you going?
===================
Not enough info. How far ahead were you when he started at 85 mi/hr?
If he was 1 mile behind going 85 mi/hr and caught up when he drove 2 miles, then he drove 2 miles while you drove 1 mile.
--> your speed was 1/2 his
= 42.5 mi/hr
----
You have to know the distance to do any meaningful calculations.
It's a meaningless statement on the cop's part.
