B=Bill's distance; M=mike's distance=4B
M+B=350 miles Substitute for M.
4B+B=350 miles
5B=350 miles Divide each side by 5
B=70 miles
ANSWER 1: Bill drove 70 miles.
M=4B=4(70 miles)=280 miles
