Question 971111: On a sale's trip, Samir drives the 600 miles to Richmond averaging a certain speed, The return trip is made at an average speed 22 mph slower. Total time for the round trip is 22 hrs. Fin Samir's average speed on each part of the trip.
Answer by anand429(138)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let avg. speed while going = s
then, avg. speed while returning = s-22 mph
total time taken for trips = 22 hrs
So,

s= 8.9 not valid since return speed will become negative.
So, speeds while going n returning are 67.7mph and 45.7mph respectively.
