EVERYDAY YOU TRAVEL .5 OF THE REMAINING DISTANCE
The number of days to travel N miles is infinite in this case, for example;
say N is two miles, then
day 1 you travel 1 mile (.5 * 2)
day 2 you travel .5 mile (.5 * 1)
day 3 you travel .25 mile (.5 * .5)
day 4 you travel .125 mile (.5 * .25)
day 5 you travel .0625 mile (.5 * .125)
therefore the sum of distance traveled will never reach 2 miles
