Question 964489: A motorboat travels 49 miles upstream in the same time it takes to travel 77 miles downstream. What is the speed of the current, w? Use the Elimination Method to solve.
I have put this together but I am unable to figure out how to do it (I know I am wrong/missing something)
R+D=T
R+49 = R+77
R - R = 28 mph
= 28mph (but this leaves 'nothing' on the left side of the equals sign)

You need another equation.
You're solving for rate, current, and time but you only have two equations,

You can get,

and

But you can't solve for all three.
Repost if you have additional information.
