a man can reach a certain place in 30 hours.
If he reduces his speed by 1/5th, he goes 10 km less in that time.
find his speed.
:
let s = the original speed
Reducing by 1/5 is the same as multiplying the original speed by .8
:
Write a distance equation; dist = speed * time
30s = 30(.8s) + 10
30s = 24s + 10
30s - 24s = 10
6s = 10
s = 10/6
s = 1 km/hr
