Find the total distance to Batangas if the second part of the trip took 30 minutes more than the first.

let d = distanced traveled the first part of the trip at 60 kph
then
(d+10) = distance traveled the second part at 50 kph, (10 km longer)

Change 30 min to 1/2 hr

Write a time equation; time = dist/speed
:
50kph time - 60kph time = 1/2 hr

multiply by 300 to cancel the denominators, then you have:
6(d+10) - 5d = 150
6d + 60 - 5d = 150
6d - 5d = 150 - 60
d = 90 km is the 1st part of the trip
