Ben rate: x + 0.5

Closing rate for the two:: 2x+0.5 mph

Equation:
rate = 7 miles/2 hrs = 3.5 mph

2x+0.5 = 3.5
2x = 3

x+0.5 = 2 mph (Ben's rate)
