if a train leaves SF to NY based on 3000 miles travelling 450 mph and train leaves NY to SF travelling 300 mph, where in this country would they cross each other?
:
Find their travel time when they meet
t = their travel time
450t + 300t = 3000
750t = 3000
t = 3000/750
t = 4 hrs
Find how far the fast train is from S.F when they meet
4 * 450 = 1800 mi
:
That is about 3/5 the way across the country, I estimate they will meet near Des Moines Iowa
