Question 949882: Write an equation and solve each problem. Two buses leave Bethlehem at the same time and travel in opposite directions. One bus averages 80 mi/hr and the other bus averages 45 mi/hr. When will they be 460 miles apart?
Answer by macston(5194) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
t=time; b1=rate of bus 1; b2=rate of bus 2; d=distance
t=d/(b1+b2)
t=460 mi/(80 mi/hr+45 mi/hr)
t=460 mi/125 mi/hr=3.68 hrs ANSWER: The buses will be 460 miles apart in 3.68 hours.
