A train has to go 2640 km.
It spent 11 hours more than was planned on half the distance
So in order to get there on time they changed their speed to 60km/h.
The question is How long did they plan on spending on the first half of the road?
and how many km/h was its speed for the first half of the road?
:
let t = time planned for half the trip (1320mi)
then
2t = time planned for the entire trip (2640km)
and
= 22 hrs is the actual time to travel the 2nd half of the trip
:
1st half time + 2nd half time = Planned time
(t + 11) + 22 = 2t
t + 33 = 2t
33 = 2t - t
t = 33 hrs planned for half the trip
and
"how many km/h was its speed for the first half of the road?"
= 30 km/hr
