A bicyclist rode into the country for 5 hours. In returning, her speed was 5 mile per hour faster and the trip took 4 hours. What was her speed each way?
:
Let s = speed into the country
It says return speed was 5 mph faster, therefore:
(s+5) = return speed
:
We know the distance there and back are the same so write a distance equation:
Remember Dist = time * speed
:
5s = 4(s+5)
:
An easy equation
